In the “About” section of this site I inform readers that this is a blog for those of us interested in matters of great import, such as the brand of sunflower seeds preferred by imaginary FBI Agent Fox Mulder. For a while, I’ve felt like a fraud, as this crucial topic has not yet been even remotely apprehended. It’s time to redeem my authenticity.

In all of the X-Files series, this sequence from the Season Seven episode The Sixth Extinction II: Amor Fati showcases the Spitz brand most conspicuously. Mulder’s salty snack appears to be a hybrid of two real brands – David and Spitz. The packaging is only a slightly modified version of the former, while the name is a direct lift from the latter.
