Bad Blake’s poison is McClure’s, a straight Kentucky bourbon whiskey. This imaginary brand from Crazy Heart is practically a character in the film, haunting Blake from the very first scene (in which he orders McClure’s up with a beer back) to the pivotal moment of the story.

As pointed out by a reader named Stephen, the container’s shape is identical to a 750ml bottle of Evan Williams.

The label reads “No. 2 Brand”, which appears to be a clear homage to the “Old No. 7 Brand” component of the Jack Daniel’s label.

all grist for the mill…
Brian,
Don’t be too cruel, after all they’ve weathered more years than us… and Louse XVI enjoyed old No.7 long before 1875, in 1788-1793…
Being of the McClure Clan. I was flattered that they came up with a straight Kentucky Bourbon with my Namesake on it. I am sure that my relitives that were sent over here as identured servants of the king, after the battle of Culloden in 1745 would have made something similar to that fine brand in the movie. I watched the movie and it brought tears to my eye’s. I think I need to find somebody to start that brand for real and bring the flavor of the movie to the masses.
Wow! I suppose it’s obvious that I’m a fellow Highlander, what with the Kirkwood surname and all. Maybe you should contact Paramount about the rights to the McClure’s label art, and churn out a few barrels yourself?
Not to mention Jack Daniels is filthy Tennessee whiskey. Don’t ever drink that garbage.

i actually went looking for this in store after watching the movie…kinda happy and disappointed att he same time that it doesnt really exist.
The container is actually from a 750 mL bottle of Evan Williams.
Thanks, Stephen! I wish I had more comments like this.
