Strontium and Pomegranate

Here’s an example of brand fiction as a subset of fan fiction. 17-year-old Ken F from Arizona is part of a community of PC gamers who modify the original game code and graphics in order to incorporate their own creative vision into the experience. The modders will alter the game’s avatar, give themselves godlike abilities, or create cusomized maps.

Ken’s mod of Fallout 3 takes a slightly different turn, focusing on the Nuka-Cola brand (a mere power-up in the game) and expanding on the corporate history of Nuka Corp. He not only designs the in-game packaging, but creates backstories and release notes for a long line of imagined product variations.
