May Cause Follicle Necrosis

While we’re on a Fallout 3 kick, I’ll point out some more examples of fixation on the game’s branded power-ups. Chris Furniss from Weekly Geek created meatspace versions of his favorite in-game accoutrements in order to add a bit of flair to his nerdy cosplay habit:

Fallout 3 Accoutrements by Chris Furniss

Nuka-Cola caps: The post-apocalyptic currency of the Capital Wasteland of Fallout 3.   They can be used to buy lots of important wares, like Purified Water, Plasma Rifles, and the delicious meat of irradiated killer cockroaches.

Med-X: A powerful injectable painkiller that lasts for precisely 240 seconds. It was originally just called “morphine”, but someone decided that condoning the use of opiates would have been the straw that broke the camel’s back of this already controversially violent video game. Also,”morphine” is kind of boring. Unless you’re a morphine addict, in which case, it’s the most entertaining thing you can possibly imagine.

Buffout: A power-up drug which, when ingested, gives the player a temporary burst of freakish strength. According to the warnings on Furniss’ label, the side effects include “follicle necrosis, intestinal gremlins, explosive sneezing, and that weird feeling you get on your tongue when you eat an underripe banana and it coats your tongue and it’s all like uggh”.

On the Nuka-Cola front, we have some great looking printable label designs from Deviant Art user, WhatPayne.

Mmmmm. Ten Health Points, and only a hint of radiation!
