This is one of my favorite David Cross moments from Mr. Show, not only because of the mind-blowing comedic writing and acting, but because of the clever Droste effect which begins at 3:05 and goes four levels deep:
Seems like the kind of sketch that could’ve been directed by Michel Gondry, which is interesting, because Cross and Gondry later hooked up for a couple of projects – most notably Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. Less notably, a short film called One Day that involved a giant, racist piece of poo (played by David Cross) running down the streets of New York screaming “J’accuse! J’accuse!”.
Yeah. Google it.
Okay, fine – here’s a link.
